FAQs

  • How long should nails be for extensions?

For nail extensions, natural nails should ideally be free of polish and have a minimum length to support the extension securely.

  • How long do nail extensions last?

You’ll be able to enjoy the results of your nail extensions for approximately two to three weeks, depending on care and maintenance, before requiring a refill or replacement.

  • What is the difference between acrylic and UV gel Nails

Acrylic is a powder and monomer mixture applied to the nail.  It is a very hard product and will not easily lift or pull up from the nail plate and must be removed with an acetone soak that takes around 45-minutes.  If a primer with acid was used to apply this product, it can cause damage to your natural nail plate.  If you impact your nails with Acrylic nails on them, it will most likely break the whole nail along with the product.  To seal this product and get the most wear, I encourage a gel top coat.  This product is porous and will absorb dyes and chemicals if not sealed with a hard gel.  It’s very hard-wearing and recommend for those who bite their nails or use their hands a lot.

  • How can I safely remove gel polish?

Gel Products need to be removed at a salon by a trained professional. Nail Technicians are trained to remove gel polish by following a safe soak off process. Gel Polish should never be peeled to avoid damage to nails.

  • Is it safe to put your hands in a UV/LED lamp for gel polish?

Yes, it is safe because hands are exposed for very short periods of time. We use LED Lamps which do not require long exposure to dry gel products.

  • Can you do anything with gel nails?

While gel nails are stronger than your own natural nails, in principle, you can do anything with artificial nails that you normally do. Of course you have to pay attention to the length of your artificial nails. After all, (very) long artificial nails will be in the way if you are very active with your hands. Then a slightly shorter artificial nail is of course a solution. It is a good idea not to use your nails as tools and to be careful with aggressive (cleaning) agents, just like you do with your natural nails.

  • Do gel nails or artificial nails hurt?

If your artificial nails or the gel on your own nails are applied in a professional and correct way, it is completely painless. If you have a painful feeling during or after the treatment or if your nails are red after the treatment, your nail plate was probably damaged as a result of the incorrect filing of your nails. Unfortunately, this is a common mistake with less well-trained nail stylists! If this happens, we recommend that you change your nail stylist/nail studio as soon as possible.
